Ark Alexandra Academy Cadets and Officers walk 10 miles for the March in March Challenge.
Tuesday 19 April 2022
Just before the Easter break 36 cadets and 4 officers from Ark Alexandra’s Cadet Force took part a charity-sponsored event. The March in March Challenge is a national campaign. The challenge and aspiration, set for the cadets and staff is for everyone to walk 10 miles in March. The aim was to raise money for the Combat Stress charity and to also help cadets focus on building a healthy lifestyle and enforce awareness of Healthy Minds.
Combat stress is the UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health. For over a century they have been helping former servicemen and women deal with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression. Today they provide specialist treatment and support for veterans from every service and conflict, focusing on those with complex mental health issues related to their military service.
The cadets met at Bewl Water in Lamberhurst and walked the 13 miles around the reservoir as part of the 10-mile challenge. Altogether, the cadets raised £4129 for the charity. As this was a national event, we were pleased to find that we were the top fundraising team across the country and also part of the top fundraising organisation.
This was a fantastic day, a great challenge and an event we aim to compete in again next year. Well done to all who took part and to the fantastic sponsors that help us raise a significant amount for a very worthwhile cause.
