Ark Alexandra, ‘Good Leadership and Management’, says Ofsted

Thursday 09 December 2021

Ofsted has judged Ark Alexandra Academy as Good in four areas: leadership and management, pupil behaviour, personal development, and the sixth form.

Inspectors noted that pupils behave well in school, respect their teachers, and learn in a focused, purposeful way. Ofsted also recognised teachers' expertise, strong subject knowledge, and their raised expectations of the students. Pupils' personal development has been a fundamental part of the school's work, and parents appreciate the wide range of extracurricular activities that are on offer.

Principal Liam Collins said: "I feel very proud of our school. Ofsted has seen how far our school has come and recognises the great work we are doing, especially through the challenging period over the last 18 months. All staff are committed to improving the quality of education for all our students, and we remain passionate and motivated."

Regional Director Lorraine Clarke added: "We are really pleased Ofsted identified that the 'new leadership has clearly taken the school forward and is now growing in strength'. The quality of education for our students continues to be our focus and although it still requires improvement, I am delighted that the inspectors have recognised that the leadership team is making ‘significant and rapid improvements to the curriculum’ and that we have a ‘clear strategy’ moving forward.”

The Section 5 inspection took place on 3rd and 4th November and looked at how the school has progressed since its predecessor school, William Parker joined with Helenswood. The full report is available on the Ofsted website.
