Transition
The transition dates for 2022 are Wednesday 6th July and Thursday 7th July between 8:30am and 3:15pm.
Transition into Year 7
Starting at the Helenswood Campus
Uniform
We are currently in a position to offer all new year 7's parents an appointment where they can come up and get their uniforms.
The showroom will be open for walk-ins but we will be restricting the number of customers in the showroom at a single time and we just want to make sure we can accommodate all the new year 7 for all our senior school and academies we cater for.
Transition into Year 9
The prospect from moving from one place to another, even in the same school, can be exciting but also slightly daunting for the child and perhaps for parents/carers. Covid-19, and the uncertainty this has caused, has meant that students have missed an awful lot of their studies and have missed the social benefits of being in school regularly. We hope this document helps to alleviate the anxiety caused by the Year 8s moving across to the William Parker campus as they start this new and exciting phase of their schooling.
How will my child get to the William Parker Campus? What entrance will they need to go to each day?
Students should arrive at the William Parker Campus main entrance, Park Avenue TN34 2PG for 8.45am
What equipment will they need?
The details of what they’re required to bring was sent out in the letter dated x. for more information please contact info@arkalexandra.org. Normal school rules apply.
Are there any differences with rules and expectations once they go over to the William Parker Campus?
No. The same rules apply. We are one school spread across 2 separate sites. There are no surprises in terms of the rules and expectations placed on the students.
What is the best way to communicate with the school if I have a concern or query?
In the first instance email your child’s form tutor. Alternatively, you can email info@arkalexandra.org and a colleague will get back to you to help.
Is there the same level of support at William Parker Campus for students who may struggle to adjust initially?
Yes, we have mirrored systems at both sites. Inclusion is instrumental to what we do here and why so many of our students are successful. The same support that is evident at Helenswood, is in operation at William Parker. The only difference is the staff are different, but many work across both sites, so it’s highly probable your child already know staff that they’ll see regularly at William Parker. Nevertheless, students will quickly be made familiar to key staff as part of their introduction to the site.
How will my child get to know their way around a completely new school?
We have put together a 2-day transition plan for the students with a mixture of different activities designed to get them exploring the site, working as part of a team and experiencing what lessons will be like for them in September. We have found that the mixture of academia, team building and exploring their surroundings allows anxieties to be minimised.
