Ark Digital Strategy
As part of the Ark Digital Strategy, every student is provided with a Chromebook and full access to the Microsoft 365 suite. This ensures they can work efficiently from any location. By providing this technology for all, we are actively addressing barriers to learning and helping to bridge the digital divide, ensuring every pupil has equal access to high-quality digital tools
By embedding these tools across our curriculum, we are enhancing the quality of home-learning opportunities, strengthening students’ digital literacy, an essential lifelong skill, and promoting independence when learning beyond the classroom.
To keep students safe online, all Chromebooks are actively monitored through Senso Cloud. Devices automatically power down between 10pm and 6am to support student wellbeing and healthy study habits.
Virtual Learning
To help students make the most of their digital learning experience, we provide access to a range of platforms, including:
Sparx Maths – An interactive platform that provides personalised maths homework and practice tasks. Sparx uses intelligent adaptive questioning to support every learner at the right level, helping students build confidence and deepen their mathematical understanding.
Sparx Reader – A digital reading platform that encourages regular, meaningful reading. Sparx Reader adapts to each student’s ability, offering tailored texts and comprehension questions that develop reading fluency, vocabulary, and critical-thinking skills.
Satchel One (Show My Homework) – Our homework management system, giving students and families clear visibility of all assignments. Satchel One provides deadlines, resources, and reminders in one place, supporting organisation, independence, and effective home study.
Sora Reading App – A student-friendly digital library offering a wide range of e-books and audiobooks. Sora encourages a love of reading by providing engaging, age-appropriate titles that can be accessed anywhere, on any device.
Seneca – An online learning and revision tool designed to help students master curriculum content through interactive activities and memory-boosting techniques. Seneca makes revision more engaging and effective, supporting strong long-term progress.
SPArk
To help our pupil make the most of digital learning, the Ark Network provides a range of resources through SPArk – a place where students can find work relevant to their year group and each subject.
This includes signposting to third party apps such as the Oak National Academy and BBC Bitesize, so that pupils have quick access to useful learning resources. Other software that we highly recommend as a resource for additional independent learning includes Hegarty Maths and Seneca.
