The Year 7, 8, and 9s competed in the Ark Netball Championships at the Jean Brown Indoor Centre on January 19th 2023. All teams played incredibly well with great centre-court play, strong shooting, and aggressive defence. The Year 9 team were up against some very strong sides but they held their own, with Emily Foster and Emmie Hodgson winning girls of the tournament for Ark Alexandra. They placed 2nd overall losing out on goal difference by 2 goals. Although the result was a little disappointing, their growth over the last 2 years as a side has been immense, and as their coach, I could not have been prouder of them. The year 8 team, showed true teamwork and sportsmanship as they fought hard in all of their matches, winning all convincingly. The great work of captain Isobel Howard solidified the team's success as they won the year 8 tournament overall with an outstanding 25 points! More than any other year group present on the day. The year 7 team, captained by Carrington Clark, showed true grit and determination winning all but one of their matches, making them the overall champions in their year group. The standout players in the year 7 tournament were Eliza Green and Megan Konders with their phenomenal defensive play, and huge jump height when receiving strong passes.
The success at The Ark Netball championships for all our teams was so well deserved with the amount of hard work all of the athletes put into their training sessions and just goes to show what a talented group of student-athletes we have here at Ark Alexandra.
Well done everyone!
