Students at Ark Alexandra Academy were treated to a special dance experience on Tuesday 30 June when former student and professional dancer Ellie Peacock returned to lead an inspiring workshop.
Since graduating from the London Contemporary Dance School in 2023 with a First-Class Degree in Dance, Ellie has built an impressive professional career, performing with renowned organisations and choreographers including Matthew Bourne's New Adventures, Shobana Jeyasingh Dance, Anthony Van Laast and Shelby Williams. Her work has taken her across the UK and internationally, including performances in Kuwait and AlUla, Saudi Arabia.
Alongside her performance career, Ellie holds several prestigious roles within the dance industry, including Company Director for Shuffle Youth Company at The Place, Ballet Tutor at Mountview, Assistant Artist for English National Ballet and Workshop Leader for the James Cousins Company.
During her visit, students from Years 7 to 10 took part in an intensive three-hour workshop that explored dance technique, repertoire and choreography. Students also had the opportunity to devise and perform their own creative work under Ellie's guidance.
The workshop concluded with a question-and-answer session, where students asked thoughtful and insightful questions about Ellie's career, training and experiences in the professional dance world.
Ellie praised the students for their enthusiasm and engagement throughout the day, commenting on the high standard of dance at the academy and the originality of the questions asked.
The visit provided students with a valuable insight into the opportunities available within the performing arts industry and demonstrated how dedication and passion can lead to exciting career pathways.
Ark Alexandra Academy would like to thank Ellie for returning to share her expertise and inspire the next generation of dancers.
