On Tuesday 13th January, Ark Alexandra Academy proudly hosted the Hastings & Rother Area Cross Country Event, welcoming around 300 students from eight schools for an afternoon of competitive racing and outstanding sportsmanship.
The event took place in torrential rain, cold and challenging conditions, but this did little to dampen the determination of the runners. Every race was fiercely contested, with students giving their all and showing real resilience as they battled the elements.
Despite the weather, the atmosphere throughout the afternoon was incredibly positive. Students from all schools cheered one another on, offering encouragement and support as runners pushed themselves around the demanding course.
A special mention must go to the cadets, who bravely stood their ground throughout the event, marshalling the course, ensuring runners stayed on track and motivating participants from every school as they passed. Thank you to HY Athletic Club for mapping out and setting up the course and helping with the start and finish.
Ark Alexandra Academy enjoyed a hugely successful afternoon, claiming six of the nine gold medals, alongside two silver medals and one bronze medal. All students performed exceptionally well in the difficult conditions, proudly demonstrating the academy’s core values of faith, excellence and kindness.
The event was a fantastic showcase of determination, teamwork and community spirit, and Ark Alexandra Academy was delighted to host such a memorable afternoon of sport.
