At cadets this week, our newest recruits were tested on their first aid skills. They each had to show they were able to put someone into the recovery position, and able to show they knew how to do CPR and also show their bandaging skills and slings.

The cadets who have previously earnt their first aid badges were on hand to support. This is one of the first badges the cadets earn when they join as we feel that this is a vital skill that all young people should have, and are looking to now get them to train younger students later in the year.

At the end of the session they then got into groups and had to use their initiative to complete a course whilst evacuating a casualty using only the items they were wearing, There was mixed success but each group completed the task with varying designs of makeshift stretchers.
