Students supported by Dallaglio RugbyWorks, alongside staff from Ark Alexandra, experienced an exciting real-world insight into emergency services during a Career Taster Day with East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service.
On Wednesday, 28th January, students visited The Ridge Community Fire Station, where they explored the varied and rewarding career pathways within the fire service.
Students began with a Health & Safety briefing, followed by a guided tour of the fire station and a fire engine. They then had the opportunity to try on full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and watch a live drill demonstration, offering a hands-on glimpse into the physical and technical demands of the role.
The experience concluded with a Q&A session, allowing students to speak directly with firefighters about training, daily responsibilities, and career progression, as well as completing feedback surveys to reflect on what they have learned.
This Career Taster Day was a great insight to inspire our students by connecting them with professionals, building confidence, and broadening their understanding of career opportunities within the emergency services.
