Fifteen cadets did a joint overnight exercise with Eastbourne College last Wednesday into Thursday. The weather was far from on the cadet’s side and made night navigation that little bit harder for them. Throughout the 24-hour period the cadets got to learn and practise Fire Control Orders, and the importance of passing on clear and concise instructions to their teammates. They also got to practise their first aid skills with some of the older cadets leading this, and then they went on patrol, and put into practise what they learnt at the end of last term, and from the previous night.
They showed true resilience as the rain was relentless even through the night when they slept-out, but the managed to cook their ration packs and had a hot meal, and by the time they were on the minibus home they all wanted to do it again.
A big thankyou to Cpt Burchell, Lt Clark and SSI Light for ensuring this event could go ahead, along with the staff from Eastbourne College.
