Last week, our students embarked on their Gold Duke of Edinburgh practice expedition, marking a significant milestone in their DofE journey. After a six-hour journey - complete with a well-earned breakfast stop at McDonald's - they arrived near Peter Tavy, ready to take on the challenge.
Equipped with their gear, the group set off across the moorland for an eight-hour trek before being transported to their campsite. Despite the demanding terrain, the students navigated the route with confidence and minimal issues. Each day followed a similar structure, with staff meeting the teams at designated checkpoints to ensure safety and provide support.
Having already achieved their Bronze and Silver Awards, the students noted that this expedition was a noticeable step up in both difficulty and distance. Their determination and teamwork were evident throughout, and they are now looking ahead to their assessed expedition in September with growing confidence and excitement.
