They began their journey on Friday morning at Bodiam Castle and made their way to Cranbrook, collecting evidence for their projects along the route.
Their first night was spent camping in Flimwell. After an early start and a cooked breakfast, they continued their trek from Cranbrook to Horsmonden. Each participant carried all their essentials, including tents, cookers, spare clothes, sleeping bags, mats, and enough food for the entire expedition.
On the third day, they undertook a challenging 14-mile circular walk from Cranbrook through Bedgebury and back. Throughout the expedition, the students demonstrated the skills and training they had received. Even when they encountered navigational challenges, they were able to reorient themselves and stay on course.
A standout moment of the weekend was watching the students confidently prepare creative and tasty meals. On Saturday evening, Mr. Birks-Agnew visited the campsite, where he had the chance to catch up with the students and hear about their experiences.
Despite the physical demands, the weekend was a resounding success. A heartfelt thank you goes to Mr. Burchell, Ms. Clark, Ms. Upton, and Ms. Springett for generously giving their time to ensure the students had a safe, enjoyable, and memorable expedition.
