Our approach
Year 12
Year 13

Why do we learn sociology?

To think critically about the world around us through:

  • Examining inequalities

  • Analysing solutions

  • Acquiring the tools to assess an ever-changing world, practically and theoretically

Our approach

In sociology we adopt the school-wide pedagogical approach which ensures challenging expositions, frequent checks for understanding, clear modelling, and opportunities for practices.

  • We take an interactive approach.

  • Engage critically with sociological literature.

  • Incorporate contemporary and contextual examples from the media.

  • Embed sound essay writing skills through modelling and deliberate practices and feedback.

  • Systematic revision.

  • Questioning and discussion.
