Students and staff at Ark Alexandra Academy are celebrating a record set of GCSE results, marking the second consecutive year of dramatic improvement in student outcomes, and cementing the academy’s position as one of the most improved schools in England.
The proportion of students passing both English and Maths has risen from 52% in 2024 to 70% this year – an increase of 18 percentage points in just two years.
The improvement has been particularly significant for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), whose outcomes have more than tripled over the same period.
The academy’s latest results are well above national figures, representing a rapid turnaround and reflecting the sustained hard work of students, staff, families and the wider Ark Alexandra community.
The results follow an impressive recent Ofsted inspection [link], which provided further recognition of the school’s exciting trajectory.
Many students have secured exceptional results:
- Harley Manu achieved eight Grade 9s and two Grade 8s
- Grace Warden achieved five Grade 9s, three Grade 8s and one Grade 7
- Thivya Thivakaran achieved two Grade 9s, four Grade 8s and one Grade 7
- Sid Woodhead achieved one Grade 9, five Grade 8s and three Grade 7s
Headteacher of the Helenswood Campus Mr Ittu said:

Headteacher of the William Parker Campus Mr Birks-Agnew said:
“What makes these results particularly special is the breadth and consistency of improvement. We are seeing more students achieving strong outcomes, and a 31% increase in outcomes for students with SEND is especially significant.
These results, alongside our recent strong Ofsted inspection, demonstrate the journey Ark Alexandra has been on and the strength of our academy today. Our dedicated students and staff deserve enormous credit”.
