Students, staff, families and members of the local community recently came together to celebrate the remarkable creativity and talent of Ark Alexandra Academy students at the GCSE Art, Photography and Design Technology Exhibition, held at The Hastings Centre.
The exhibition showcased an outstanding collection of student work, highlighting the dedication, technical skill and imagination developed throughout their GCSE studies. Visitors were treated to a diverse range of painting, drawing, mixed media, photography and Design Technology projects, demonstrating the breadth of creative talent across the academy.
Year 7 and 8 students from both campuses were given the opportunity to visit the exhibition, discussing their favourite pieces, exploring future GCSE options and considering potential career pathways within the creative industries. Many left inspired by the quality of the work on display and eager to develop their own artistic ideas.
Adding to the occasion was a stunning performance from Ark Alexandra's Dance students, who presented a beautifully choreographed piece inspired by Picasso's Guernica. The performance captivated audiences and showcased the creativity, expression and talent of the academy's young performers.
The exhibition also welcomed Year 10 and 11 students alongside their parents and carers, allowing them to celebrate achievements and reflect on the progress made throughout their creative journeys. Members of the public were highly complimentary of the work on display, with many commenting on its professional quality and presentation.
Guests also enjoyed a selection of delicious canapés prepared and served by GCSE Hospitality and Catering students, adding another creative dimension to the evening.
The exhibition concluded with a visit from pupils from Ark Blacklands Primary Academy, whose enthusiasm for Art and Design was evident as they explored the displays and learned more about the students' work.
The academy would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the event. The Hastings Centre for their support and space. Special recognition goes to Ms Dawes, Head of Art & Design, Mr Woodhead, Leader of Art, and Ms Sales for organising the exhibition.
