On Friday 17th May, a team of 58 students encompassing four teams, travelled to the K2 Athletics Stadium in Crawley to compete in the Sussex Round of the English Schools’ Track and Field Cup.
It was a day of determination and focus as our Junior (Yr7&8) and Intermediate (Yr9&10) Girl’s and Boy’s teams took part in track and field events against students from Brighton College, Hurstpierpoint College, Hazelwick School, Ifield Community College, Lewes Old Grammar School, Cardinal Newman Catholic School and Roedean School. There were some exceptional performances from our teams, with Allanah Oakman setting a new PB of 37.13m in the Intermediate Girl's Hammer, Leo Ward running 12.8s in the Junior Boy’s 100m Sprint, and Charlie Jones running 2:15:00 in the Intermediate Boys 800m.
The overall results saw our Junior Boys finish in 2nd Place overall, our Junior Girls in 3rd, Intermediate Girls in 4th and our Intermediate Boys in 5th.
We wait now to find out whether any of our teams have qualified for the Regional Finals.
Congratulations to everyone who took part. We are looking forward to seeing our squads in action again at the Ark Championships in Chelmsford this week!
