Ark Alexandra Academy cadets recently returned from an unforgettable week of adventure, teamwork and military training at their annual summer camp, held at Lydd Camp and St Martin's Plain in Folkestone.
The action-packed week provided cadets with the opportunity to develop new skills, build confidence and strengthen friendships through a wide range of military, adventurous and leadership activities.
The camp began with two days in the field, where cadets took part in military skills training including tracking, survival techniques and trapping skills. These activities culminated in an exciting clay pigeon shooting session. After spending a night in the TIBUA village, cadets worked alongside the Gurkhas, learning urban operations skills before putting them into practice through realistic exercises involving the assault, clearance and securing of buildings.
Day three focused on marksmanship and personal development. Cadets spent time on the ranges before taking part in an escape room challenge, first aid training, laser activities and DCC sessions, all designed to develop problem-solving, teamwork and leadership skills.
One of the highlights of the week came during Adventure Training. Cadets enjoyed a programme of raft building, paddleboarding, kayaking, mountain biking, rock climbing, abseiling and archery. These activities tested resilience and determination while providing plenty of excitement and opportunities for personal achievement.
The final day saw cadets compete against one another, showcasing the skills they had developed throughout the week before returning to school following a highly successful camp.
Throughout the week, cadets demonstrated exemplary behaviour, commitment and teamwork. They embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and represented Ark Alexandra Academy with pride.
The camp provided a rewarding and memorable experience for all involved, leaving cadets with new skills, lasting memories and plenty of stories to tell as they look forward to next year's adventure.
