Ten student Sports Leaders from Ark Alexandra Academy played a key role in the success of the Sussex Primary Chance to Shine Cricket Competition on Monday 22 June, held at Horntye Park, home of Hastings & St Leonards Priory Cricket Club.
Despite soaring temperatures, the students demonstrated exceptional commitment, enthusiasm and professionalism as they officiated, scored and supported the event, which welcomed 14 cricket teams from six primary schools across East Sussex.
Throughout the day, Ark Alexandra's Sports Leaders officiated and scored 15 matches across four pitches, ensuring the competition ran smoothly and providing valuable support to participating teams.
In addition to their officiating duties, students also helped coach younger players, offering guidance and encouragement to help them develop their skills and enjoy success on the pitch. Their contribution helped create a positive and inclusive experience for all involved.
The event is the latest in a series of sporting opportunities supported by Ark Alexandra's Sports Leaders, who have played an important role in cricket competitions hosted both at the academy and across the local area throughout the year.
Mr Jay. PE Teacher, praised the students' efforts:
"Watching these students develop into Sports Leaders this year has been an absolute pleasure, through officiating, scoring and coaching at Sussex Cricket competitions, Strike Fest and the Sussex Primary Chance to Shine Competition. One of the biggest highlights has been seeing some students step out of their comfort zones and demonstrate all the core values of Ark Alexandra Academy, ensuring that every student attending these events enjoys playing cricket."
