As the nation celebrates National Volunteers’ Week 2026, Ark Alexandra Academy is proud to recognise the remarkable contribution its students have made to their local communities through volunteering.
Students participating in The Duke of Edinburgh's Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels are required to complete a volunteering section as part of their award. This important element encourages young people to develop a sense of responsibility, engage positively with their communities and build valuable life skills.
Over the past year, from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026, Ark Alexandra students collectively contributed an impressive 1,638 hours of social volunteering. Based on recognised volunteer value estimates, this equates to approximately £12,365 worth of community service.
Students have supported a wide range of activities and organisations, giving their time freely to help others and make a positive impact. Their efforts demonstrate compassion, commitment and a genuine desire to contribute to the wider community.
The achievement highlights the strength of the academy’s Duke of Edinburgh programme and the dedication of its students, who continue to embrace opportunities to develop personally while supporting those around them.
As National Volunteers’ Week shines a spotlight on the importance of volunteering across the UK, the academy is proud to celebrate the outstanding contribution of its young volunteers and the difference they continue to make.
