The first combined Ark Scholars’ Training Day, organised by Ark Sport, took place this week at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. Students selected earlier in the year following competitive trials travelled to London to receive specialist coaching in Basketball, Athletics and Football.
The day began before dawn, with students and staff assembling shortly after 6.30am for the journey from Kent to South London. As the minibuses made their way up the A21, a frosty morning gave way to clear blue skies. Upon arrival, students headed into the iconic sports centre—pausing for a photo—before being registered, issued new kit, and introduced to their professional coaches, many of whom are former elite athletes.
Training sessions began quickly, with students moving to their designated facilities for warm-ups, skills development, technical drills and match play. Throughout the day, they trained alongside talented peers from across the Ark network, gaining new insights and building confidence in their sporting disciplines.
After a full day of intensive practice, students returned home tired but motivated. The experience will support their ongoing development as they continue training at school and in their clubs ahead of the next scholars’ session in the New Year.
Well done to all our students and thank you their parents/carers for their ongoing support, especially with such early starts! Thank you to Ark Sport for their commitment to giving our students these amazing experiences, and a special thank you to the wonderful coaches from today. We are really looking forward to the next session!
