Ark Alexandra Academy recently welcomed a group of students from Katharine-Weißgerber-Schule in Germany for an inspiring international exchange visit, providing a valuable opportunity for cultural learning, friendship and language development.
Staying in Hastings during their visit, the German students spent time at Ark Alexandra experiencing school life in England while developing their English language skills.
Students from both schools quickly formed connections as they shared their hobbies and interests, compared favourite subjects, and discussed the similarities and differences between education and everyday life in Germany and the UK. One topic that sparked particular interest was school uniform, with the visiting students commenting on how smart Ark Alexandra students looked, as schools in Germany do not typically have a uniform.
The day also included a variety of interactive team-building activities designed to encourage collaboration and communication. Among the highlights was a blindfold challenge that required students to work together, solve problems and trust one another to achieve success.
Staff were delighted to see students from both countries engaging so positively, building confidence and developing new friendships throughout the visit.
Following the activities, students enjoyed lunch together in the school dining hall before heading to Hastings seafront to continue their cultural experience in the local area.
Reflecting on the visit, Ark Alexandra student Harry said:
“It was great to meet the German students. They were really friendly and interested in learning about our school. We all gained so much from the visit.”
The exchange proved to be a fantastic opportunity for students to broaden their horizons, strengthen language skills and gain a deeper understanding of another culture. Ark Alexandra looks forward to welcoming more international visitors and continuing to create opportunities that help students become confident global citizens.
