Students from Ark Alexandra Academy took to the stage in spectacular style last week with their vibrant production of “Rock the Boat – A 70s Musical”, delivering a show packed with energy, humour and unforgettable performances.
The production featured an extraordinary cast of characters, including a band and emcee, dancers, waitresses, a chaotic wedding party with a jilted groom and runaway bride, groups of nuns, spies disguised as elderly ladies, explorers, an Egyptologist, a film star and her assistant—and even an ancient Egyptian mummy.
This lively and colourful show brought together students from across the school, creating a true cross-campus production that celebrated the breadth of talent within the academy.
Audiences were treated to a fast-paced and entertaining performance, with students showcasing their confidence, creativity and enthusiasm throughout. The addition of a live band added to the atmosphere, helping bring the 1970s-inspired musical to life.
The production was written and directed by Niall Whitehead, whose vision and dedication helped make the show such a success. Staff, former students and volunteers also played a vital role behind the scenes, supporting every aspect of the performance.
The show was met with fantastic feedback and proved to be a highlight of the school year, with audiences thoroughly entertained from start to finish.
The academy extended its thanks to everyone who attended and supported the production, as well as to the cast, crew and staff whose hard work made the event possible.
