Ark Alexandra Year 10 students have embarked on an exciting journey into the world of STEM careers through a new mentoring programme. The first session, held on Zoom, saw students meet the programme leaders and share their enthusiasm for STEM-related careers.
As part of the session, students completed a “dream career” interview challenge and a survey. The information gathered will allow the charity Generating Genius to match each student with a mentor from a STEM career, taking into account their skills, attributes, and career aspirations.
Looking ahead, students will have one-to-one sessions with their mentors via Zoom, receiving personalised advice and guidance on how to pursue their dream careers. They will also participate in a Crime Scene Investigation challenge, working as a team to use DNA analysis and problem-solving skills to solve a case.
The programme provides a hands-on, real-world insight into STEM careers and is designed to inspire and support students as they explore opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
