Cadets arrived on the Saturday morning early to travel to Eastbourne College, once there they were divided into three groups and met their instructors for the weekend. The programme was intense along with the issues around the weapons weight and strength required to hold it all day. At the end of day one, 5 cadets who had previously handled the weapons took and passed their test.
On the Sunday after a refresher on the weapon the cadets began the testing process from NSP’s to stripping the weapon for cleaning, putting it back together, testing it through to loading, making ready to unloading and making safe. They also had the pass the stoppages test. By Sunday afternoon all 35 had passed along with Mr Burchell and Mr Light. Passing the test allows those cadets to attend the annual summer camp in June with the Army.
