Saturday morning began with a mix of nervous energy—anxious parents on one side and excited students on the other. Just as the first groups set off toward their initial checkpoint, the rain eased, and thankfully, the weather improved throughout the day.
Despite a few “geographical adaptations” (better known as getting a bit lost!), all groups successfully completed their first day of navigation. At the campsite, students prepared a variety of meals—some while sitting through a thunderstorm! A special thanks to Mr Birks-Agnew, who visited the site to support the students and lend a hand with their cooking.
Sunday morning brought sunshine and a cheerful start. One group even surprised a teammate with a rendition of Happy Birthday and a Colin the Caterpillar cake, which was quickly and enthusiastically shared.
After a long day of challenging hill walks, the students were relieved and proud to reach the finish. Once kit was returned and final debriefs completed, they finally got to enjoy their emergency rations before heading home with their families.
A huge thank you to the incredible team who supported the event and ensured the students were safe, encouraged, and successful throughout the weekend.
