Today, the hard work of sixth formers at Ark Alexandra Academy has paid off as they celebrate their brilliant achievements. These students have received high marks and are now confirming their university places, and some have received bursaries to help with their university costs.

Marco Duraku earned A*A*A*AA in Physics, Maths, Chemistry and Biology and will study Physics at Imperial College London with help from a bursary. Marco is so eager that he's already considering his postgraduate study, including gaining a PhD! He's represented the school in several maths and physics competitions at universities nationwide. Marco stated, “Thank you to everyone in the school who supported me to achieve these amazing results.”.
Talar Kafroshi achieved A*A*B in Sociology, Government and Politics, and Psychology. She will now study International Relations and Politics at UCL. Talar is a first-generation Kurdish refugee and the first in her family to attend university. The opportunity to go to university with an Urbanest bursary means a lot to her. Talar stated, “Over the past 8 years I have had an incredible time at Ark Alexandra Academy, which I feel has considerably contributed to my progress resulting in fantastic A level results. I have now accepted my place at my first choice of university to study Politics & Sociology, with a year abroad starting in September.”.
Tobias Hubble-Darkes is heading to the University of South Wales to study Football Coaching and Performance after achieving fantastic results with a D in History and Dist/Dist in Sport Double BTEC. With a Marshal Wace bursary, Toby dreams of becoming a sports teacher in Hastings to give back, develop and improve his community. Toby is also a Combined Cadet Force cadet. Toby stated, “Thank you to Ms Horton, Mr Morris, Mr Elford, Ms Kirk and Ms Fagan for all their support. Since 2016, this has been my home and I’m looking forward to progressing to the next step in my future.”
With A*A*A in Government and Politics, Sociology and Geography, Isabel Mckinnon plans to study Politics and Sociology at the University of Manchester with support from a Reuben bursary. Isabel has represented the school at debating competitions and is president of the social committee, organising events for their sixth form.
Sajaa Osman gained B, B and C for A levels in History, Biology and English Literature and is going to Royal Holloway University to study English Literature. She's the first to attend university in her family. Sajaa hopes her degree will lead to a career as a university lecturer and writer. She's the recipient of a bursary worth £9,900.

For all Year 13 students, this year marks an important milestone in their academic journey. This is their first experience with formal exams as they did not sit formal GCSEs in 2021 due to the pandemic.
