Students from Ark Alexandra Academy made an outstanding start to the athletics season as a 57-strong squad travelled to the K2 Leisure Centre in Crawley to compete in the first round of the English Schools' Track and Field Cup.
Competing against both state and independent schools from across Sussex, Ark Alexandra athletes delivered impressive performances throughout the day. Although the competition began under cloudy skies, the team soon brought energy and determination to the track and field events.
Among the standout performances were:
Junior Girls
- Natalia – 200m: 28.3 sec
- Izabella – 800m: 2:43.0
- Tera – 1500m: 5:13.0
Junior Boys
- Arthur – 80m Hurdles: 14.2 sec
- Benjamin – 1500m: 4:45.0
Intermediate Girls
- Florence – 1500m: 5:02.1
- Amelia – 1500m: 5:15.0
Intermediate Boys
- Callum – 100m Hurdles: 12.7 sec
- Gugu – 200m: 24.3 sec
- Aiden – 1500m: 4:39.0
The determination and resilience shown across all events led to strong overall team results, with the Intermediate Boys and Intermediate Girls both finishing 4th overall, the Junior Girls securing 5th place, and the Junior Boys achieving an impressive 2nd place finish.
The academy now awaits confirmation on whether the teams have earned enough points to qualify for the Regional Finals at the K2 in June.
It was a fantastic display of teamwork, commitment, and sporting excellence, a brilliant start to the athletics season for Team Alexandra.
