Why do we learn Personal Development?
Growing Strong Hearts and Minds
Guided by faith, excellence, and kindness, Personal Development empowers students to become confident, compassionate, and resilient young people, prepared for life in modern Britain.
Christian Distinctiveness
Growing Strong Hearts and Minds
Our curriculum is distinctly Christian as we challenge our students to be aspirational and hopeful for their own lives and for the world, we encourage courageous advocacy for change in our world, particularly in the areas of climate change and inequality, and through teaching about a range of places and people we celebrate difference. The rationale for this comes from the teachings in the Bible which direct Christians to steward over the earth and sacrificially love all people, just as demonstrated by Jesus.

Our approach
Using QA accredited PSHE Resourced Curriculum from 'Life Lessons' and 'Unifrog', Ark Alexandra adapts the resourced curriculums to meet the needs of our context and students. The curriculum is sequenced and spiralled to ensure that our student acquire the 'core knowledge' fundamental to acquiring mastery in PSHE/RSE and Gatsby Benchmarks that empowers our students to make informed decisions about their own and others wellbeing, health and relationships, for now and their future lives in the wider world.
The Curriculum is rigorously sequenced and age appropriately mapped to:
- Build on prior knowledge
- Emphasise mastery
- Develop self-esteem and confidence in respectfully engaging with others to both identify and navigate potential risks and challenges in the wider world through rich, respectful, and reflective discussions. The adaptation of Life Lessons youth-led approach, QA student voice videos and interviews into our reflective and respectful discussion tasks using the A,B,C oracy model foster student relevance and engagement which is monitored through robust assessment model, planned student voice, reflection and feedback.
