Students at Ark Alexandra Academy are putting their engineering, design and creativity skills to the test in an exciting new Scalextric for Schools Club, with ambitions of reaching the National Finals of the prestigious competition.
The Design and Technology department has been buzzing with excitement as students begin designing and building their very own race cars. Using professional 3D CAD software, club members have started creating bespoke wheelbases before moving on to designing custom car bodies that will be brought to life using 3D printing technology.
Over the coming weeks, students will continue to develop, assemble and refine their vehicles, testing them on the academy's new Scalextric track. The fastest and most reliable car will go on to represent Ark Alexandra Academy at the regional competition, with the ultimate goal of securing a place at the national finals.
The project combines STEM learning with creativity, teamwork and problem-solving, giving students a unique opportunity to experience real-world engineering challenges in a fun and engaging way.
The academy is also inviting donations of unwanted Scalextric cars, parts and scenery from to help expand the club's resources and inspire even more young engineers.
