Students from Ark Alexandra Academy have successfully completed their final Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award assessment expedition, marking an important milestone after months of preparation and training.
Over the course of the three-day expedition, 20 students demonstrated a wide range of practical and personal skills essential for completing the award. From accurate map reading and route planning to tent pitching, cooking independently, and working effectively as a team, students consistently showed resilience, responsibility, and determination throughout the weekend.
A key focus of the assessment was leadership and navigation, with students working independently in groups to follow planned routes and adapt to challenges along the way. Their confidence, teamwork, and ability to make informed decisions impressed staff and assessors alike.
The expedition also highlighted the students’ maturity and organisation, with groups managing campsites efficiently and supporting one another throughout the experience.
In the coming weeks, students will complete the final stage of the assessment process by delivering presentations reflecting on their journey, challenges, and achievements during the expedition.
Mr Burchell and Miss Upton praised the students for their independence, attention to detail, and positive attitude throughout the weekend.
The successful expedition represents a significant achievement for all involved and brings students one step closer to completing their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award.
