Throughout the expedition, the group displayed remarkable resilience, teamwork, and determination.
The assessment was characterised by continuous rainfall and cold nights, which created challenging walking conditions and tested the students’ endurance and morale. Despite the wet and chilly environment, they remained positive and focused on their objectives.
Each day involved lengthy treks across varied terrain, including moorland, woodland, and steep inclines. The students were required to navigate using maps and compasses, set up their own camps, and prepare meals independently.
Their route planning and execution were highly commendable, with all checkpoints reached punctually.
All eight students successfully met the criteria for the expedition section of the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Their perseverance and commitment in the face of difficult conditions deserve high praise.
This group truly embodied the spirit of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Their ability to stay positive, collaborate effectively, and overcome environmental challenges reflects their maturity and readiness for the Gold level.
Congratulations to all participants on a successful expedition.
A special thank you to Miss Clark and Mr Burchell for generously giving up their time and ensuring the students were able to complete their Gold assessment.
