Last weekend the silver Duke of Edinburgh students took part in their Silver Assessment. The students had three days of walking and camping, luckily in better weather than when they took part in the practice weekend. The students walked 10 to 13 miles a day with rucksacks in excess of 50lbs. All the students kept to their planned routes and most of the time their timings. All showed that they could cook both breakfast and evening meals, and sustain themselves over this period. It was a relief for many when Sunday afternoon came and after a kit check and debrief they were allowed to go home. Before they can be signed off for their expedition, they still have to submit their projects they undertook while out walking. We hope to see a number of these students attempting their Gold award once they reach 16 years of age.
