One of our tallented students has achieved outstanding success on the national stage, securing a silver medal at the England National Table Tennis Championships.
Liam delivered an exceptional performance throughout the tournament. Competing in both the Under 12 and Under 13 singles events, he won an impressive 9 out of his 10 group stage matches, progressing confidently through to the knockout rounds. He reached the last 16 in both age categories, demonstrating remarkable consistency and skill against strong national competition.
His greatest success came in the doubles event, where Liam and his partner, ranked 7th and 5th respectively, battled their way through to the final. There, they faced the top-ranked pair in England. Despite a hard-fought match, they secured an outstanding runner-up position and a silver medal at this prestigious national competition.
Liam’s rapid rise in the sport reflects his dedication and commitment. He trains regularly with Simply Table Tennis and Tackleway Table Tennis Club, and is also a member of Worthing Table Tennis Club. In addition, he plays competitively in both the Hastings & District League First Division and the Eastbourne & District League First Division.
Liam has recently been invited to join the Table Tennis Academy at Bede's School, where he will benefit from high-level coaching, including sessions with a French international, as well as dedicated strength and conditioning training. He also trains weekly with a former England table tennis coach, further strengthening his development.
Remarkably, Liam’s journey into table tennis began just two and a half years ago after seeing an advert for Simply Table Tennis in the Ark Little Ridge School newsletter, making his achievements even more impressive.
This success highlights Liam’s hard work, passion, and determination, and marks an exciting future ahead in the sport.
