Students from Ark Alexandra Academy enjoyed an unforgettable cultural experience during the Easter holidays with a visit to Shakespeare’s Globe to watch a captivating production of Romeo and Juliet.
The performance brought one of William Shakespeare’s most iconic plays vividly to life, offering students a powerful and accessible interpretation of the tragic love story. The immersive nature of the production created a memorable encounter with the text, deepening appreciation and understanding.
For Year 9 learners, the visit was particularly valuable, enhancing their knowledge of a play they have studied this year and allowing them to see its themes and characters realised on stage. Younger students also benefited greatly, gaining an exciting introduction to Shakespeare that will support their future learning as they encounter the text later in Key Stage 3.
The trip was filled with enthusiasm, curiosity, and inspiration, as students engaged fully with the performance and the unique theatre environment.
Staff were especially proud of the way students represented the school throughout the visit. Their excellent behaviour, kindness, and engagement reflected positively on the entire school community.
This enriching experience highlighted the importance of bringing literature beyond the classroom, inspiring a lasting appreciation for theatre and the works of Shakespeare.
